Education is a right for all children.
Education support is an essential part of our OVC programming. We believe that education not only benefit the individual child, but can also serve as important resource centers to meet the broader needs of communities. Schools can provide children with a safe, structured environment, the emotional support and supervision of adults, and the opportunity to learn how to interact with other children and develop social networks.
Education is the key to employability and can also foster a child’s developmentally important sense of competence. We therefore identify the barriers to accessing this education and break the barriers. Girls in our communities are more affected by this problem.
Education ignites children's hope.
We have and are committed to addressing the disproportionate levels of risk children face if they leave school at an early age. Schools must be made safe for children, especially girls. Children who may not be able to continue with formal education, we provide to them vocational skills for better livelihoods.
The home has not yet secured enough funds to have children in boarding schools. As such most children are supported in local community schools. We have also built on the opportunity of free education to ensure that children affected by HIV/AIDS have access to education. Abigail Children Ministry is seeking funding and support to support girl empowerment and child sponsorship.
The Education system in Uganda
In Uganda, a $40 donation per term, which equates to $120 for three terms in a year, holds significant importance in supporting a child's education.
With a donation of $40 each term, a child's education is provided with essential resources such as textbooks, school supplies, and access to educational programs. This contribution plays a crucial role in enabling the child to attend school regularly, covering expenses for uniforms, transportation, and sometimes even meals, ensuring they have a conducive learning environment.
Moreover, this support might extend beyond tangible resources. It could contribute to funding extracurricular activities, such as sports or arts programs, enriching the child's overall educational experience. Additionally, it might aid in funding technology or digital resources, enabling access to online learning platforms or computers for educational purposes.
Furthermore, beyond immediate educational needs, this contribution may also support the development of infrastructure within the educational institution. It could be utilized for building maintenance, creating better classrooms, or improving facilities, thereby enhancing the overall quality of education for the child and others in the school community.
