May 2024 has ushered in a new phase of growth and learning for our children at Empowered Child Ministries. As we embark on the second semester, all our children are back in school, eager to pursue their education and expand their horizons. This term promises to be filled with academic achievements and personal growth, thanks to your continued support and encouragement. Your belief in their potential fuels their determination to excel in their studies and embrace new opportunities for learning and development.
SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM AT EMPOWERED CHILD MINISTRIES
In March 2024, Empowered Child Ministries got sponsors for two more children and we are proudly having 16 sponsors for our children. We now have 16 out of our 51 children enrolled in our scholarship program, thanks to the generosity of their sponsors. These 16 children are receiving vital support that allows them to thrive academically, emotionally, and socially. However, there are still 35 children who have yet to receive sponsorship, and the need for this support is crucial for their development and well-being.
EDUCATIONAL IMPACT
The start of the second term marks a crucial period for our children’s academic journey. With your support, we’ve launched an educational fundraising program aimed at raising USD 2700. This initiative will ensure that our children have access to quality education materials, enhancing their learning experience and academic performance throughout the term. By providing them with the tools they need to succeed, you are laying the foundation for their future success and empowering them to reach their full academic potential.
SPECIAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE
We have also commenced special education sessions for our disabled children. These tailored programs are designed to meet the unique needs of each child, promoting their cognitive development and improving their educational outcomes. Your contributions enable us to provide specialized resources and support, empowering these children to overcome barriers and achieve educational milestones that may have once seemed out of reach. Together, we are fostering an inclusive learning environment where every child can thrive and grow academically.
HEALTH AND WELL-BEING
Despite challenges, including a recent outbreak of red eyes among our children, we are pleased to report that all affected children received prompt medical attention and have fully recovered. This underscores our commitment to maintaining the health and well-being of every child under our care. Your support ensures that we can respond swiftly to health challenges and provide comprehensive medical care, allowing our children to return to their studies and daily activities with renewed vigor and vitality.
PERSONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Sharif Bokino, one of our disabled children, was diagnosed with TB but is now undergoing treatment and showing positive progress. Your support ensures that Sharif receives the medical care he needs, allowing him to continue his journey towards improved health and well-being. His resilience and determination inspire us all, reminding us of the importance of holistic care and individualized support in nurturing our children’s health and development.
ENRICHMENT ACTIVITIES
Throughout May, our children enthusiastically participated in dancing lessons, which serve as more than recreational activities. These sessions foster physical fitness, emotional expression, and social cohesion among the children, enhancing their confidence and interpersonal skills. Your support of these activities enables us to provide enriching experiences that contribute to the holistic development of our children, preparing them for future challenges and opportunities.
SPIRITUAL NOURISHMENT
Our Sunday church sessions remained a cornerstone of spiritual growth and community bonding. These sessions provide our children with opportunities to learn about faith, values, and compassion, fostering a sense of unity and support within our community. Your support ensures that we can continue to nurture their spiritual well-being, reinforcing important moral values and providing them with a strong foundation for personal growth and resilience.
CELEBRATING MILESTONES
In May, we celebrated the birthdays of Musasizi Emmanuel, Muwanika Trevor, and Nsubuga Saidi. These celebrations are pivotal in boosting the self-esteem and sense of belonging of our children, reminding them that they are cherished members of our Empowered Child Ministries family. Your generosity in recognizing and celebrating these milestones reinforces their self-worth and strengthens their bond with our community, creating lasting memories of love and support.
CHALLENGES
Financial Constraints and Impact on Programs: At Empowered Child Ministries, we continuously strive to provide the best care and support for our children. However, we often find ourselves operating below our budget line, which limits our ability to fully implement our programs. This financial shortfall affects the quality and scope of activities we can offer, directly impacting the well-being and development of the children in our care.
Children Without Sponsors: Currently, 35 out of our 51 children are without individual sponsors and rely on collective donations from friends and well-wishers. While these contributions are invaluable, they are not always consistent, leading to uncertainty and instability in meeting the children’s needs.
Healthcare Challenges: Our finances for medication are also strained. Recently, there has been a significant outbreak of flu and cough in our region, resulting in many children falling ill. Over five children required hospitalization for treatment, putting additional pressure on our already limited resources. Ensuring that all our children have access to adequate medical care is a top priority, but without sufficient funds, it becomes increasingly challenging to meet this need.
Impact of Rising and Fluctuating Prices: The rising and fluctuating prices of goods have severely affected our meal and feeding programs. When prices spike, we struggle to stock enough food to last throughout the month, compromising the children’s nutrition and health. Consistent and nutritious meals are essential for the children’s growth and development, but our financial constraints make it difficult to maintain this standard.
Space Limitations: We are also facing mounting pressure from our landlord due to the limited space available. As the number of children and activities increases, especially those involving our disabled children who require more room for mobility, the need for a larger space becomes more critical. Our current facility is no longer adequate to accommodate all our activities and ensure a comfortable and safe environment for the children.
THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our sponsors and donors for their steadfast support and generosity. Your contributions have been pivotal in empowering the children at Empowered Child Ministries, allowing us to provide them with the love, care, and opportunities they deserve.
Your financial aid, resources, and time have created a nurturing environment where these children can flourish. From funding educational materials and physiotherapy sessions to facilitating birthday celebrations and church services, your kindness has made a significant impact on their lives. We are deeply appreciative of your dedication to our mission, and we look forward to continuing this journey together, transforming lives and building brighter futures for these children.
Thank you for being an essential part of our community and for believing in the potential of every child in our care.
