NABETA CHRISTOPHER
Date of Birth: 10th October, 2010
Christopher’s early life was marked by abandonment and hardship. At just nine months old, his father abandoned him after he became lame, and his mother later left him, unable to cope with caring for a child with disabilities. Tragically, his parents believed that having a crippled child was a curse, leading them to throw him into a rubbish pit. Fortunately, a compassionate individual who recognized Christopher rescued him and took him to his grandmother’s house. However, his grandmother lacked the resources to provide the specialized care he needed.
In 2021, Christopher was identified and brought to ECM, where he finally received proper care and support. He was diagnosed with athetoid cerebral palsy, a condition affecting his movement and coordination. Despite these challenges, Christopher has shown remarkable progress. He can now turn in bed, sit independently for about 30 minutes, and crawl by creeping on his tummy. However, he still faces difficulties in transitioning from lying down to sitting up due to his uncoordinated movements.
Christopher’s story is a testament to his resilience, strength, and determination. His favorite meal is fish and rice, and his favorite color is red, symbolizing love, strength, and courage—qualities that define his inspiring journey.
